I have just received a 4th. rotary axis for my MaxNC10. But I can’t seem to find CAM software to generate code for 4 axis milling. What 4 axis CAM software are you guys using ?
Need to add, that until now I have used Windows software only, but I’m open to Unix
I used to work with CATIA. It’s a very complex program, but i use it for work, and i did some classes, but if you need to learn it… i don’t recommended. In other side, I’ve discovered Vectric Aspire recently, and it works fine for some geometries. Here you have a sample:
The free version of Aspire only support 2.5D, right ?
Great site @Oscar_Terrer . You write mostly about the milling operations, and not so much about how you generated the G-Code. Any tricks up the sleeve, I just can’t find a way to do it.
You might look at http://www.scorchworks.com/Gcoderipper/gcoderipper.html it basically let’s you wrap 2.5d gcode around around a cylinder. Not the most elegant but it will let you test your new axis.
MeshCam has the ability to make 4th axis programs but only for index milling not continuous milling. You can download a trial from their website.
That is a really funny approach, to wrap gcode @Michael_Bridak_K6GTE , thanks for the hint. Will look into it at my next session in my home design studio
