I have this chart on my (manual) mill’s VFD, for picking which pulley to use. I wanted something that was optimized for what I needed to do, which was pick the right speed on MY mill. Most charts have WAY too much extra crud on them, and make you think too much.
To make your own custom chart, figure out what each pulley speed is, put in the reasonable SFPM for three broad classes of materials, then make a chart of maximum cutting diameter. I used HSS and carbide tools and soft steel, tough steel, and Aluminum. That covers just about anything I might want to cut and does it quickly. I have a similar chart for my lathe.

Much easier to just remember 60 and 120 sfm for steel and aluminum then calculate from there

@Julius_Jahn Ah, but that’s what I want to avoid: calculation! I was looking for a quick glance to tell me if I needed to change belts.
