I haven’t been on in a quite a while so thought I’d share some of the projects that have been keeping the machine busy.
The jade box is from one of Vectric’s projects of the month. Had to make 3 of them after the 1st one turned out so well. Wife loved it.
The clock sitting on the machine is my second clock attempt. From Christopher Blasius (Magica). I haven’t got it running consistently yet. Real finicky.
The white clock is my first attempt at a clock. Plans from Clayton Boyer (Deco). After tune up, it runs very well. About 30secs a day slow, but I could not be happier with it.

Nice! Getting some hours on the machine- everything working out on the machine for you?

I’m interested in the processes involved with the jade box. Was it 100% done with cnc?

@Mark_Leino Everything on the box was done with the machine, except the feet. They are ‘dolls heads’ from Hobby Lobby. Plans and drawings were all from Vectric. http://www.vectric.com/cool-stuff/projects/2016/jade-and-ebony-box.html
(I give the highest recommendation for their software, fwiw.)
The molding tool path for the sides of the box gave me some issues (cut depth to deep on edges) but I didn’t break any bits. :slight_smile:
The painting actually was the interesting part. Spray paint on a surface of water then dip each part. Check YouTube, several examples there. I plan on using the technique on some other projects.

That’s awesome @Ken_Martinson ​. I actually have vectric desktop (up to 2x2’) but have really not used it that much. The design part is easy to use, and very powerful. The cam part is great too - I just haven’t really found any projects to use it for. Mostly I end up making new machines- I struggle with being artistic.

Your project turned out great, keep up the good work!

That molding tool path looks like it would work good for cabinet/drawer parts… Probably would need to upgrade to the pro version though.
