I haven’t done a lot of this, but we made a mario super star, first layers in yellow filament, last few in black. Turned out fantastic. We have enough colors at work that I’m going to try a “full color” print with 8-10 colors.
I like the method of drawing 4 dots in the corners of you DXF for alignment, then making X number of STLs, If you design it properly, you can print 1 SLT, and becasue the dots are in the same x-y-z location you can simply slice and print the 2,3,4 STLs without any issues. I use about .6mm thick inserts/other STLs… I really really need to write up a how to on this… I just have not had time…
Hopefully you understand what i am saying…
Love it!
@Camerin_hahn , yeah; the nomenclature for that is “registration marks”. I do this on one of our labs laser cutters because it auto-crops, and if there’s no registration mark, subsequent cuts will be misaligned.
Loves it
I made one of the thingiverse rockets. I put stripes on it. Red white and blue for the fourth. Looks so cool.
