I highly suggest you all to attend these sort of conventions. A lot of universities & commerce groups will pay the often high dollar entry fee for these events, just ask around to get the word out about open source 3D printing!

Attended the Innovators of Manufacturing Convention in Lexington, we were the only on-site printing company. Was a bit surprised & got lots of attention for it. Woot.
Spoke with a GE spokesperson for their 3D printing efforts in Louisville. 30,000+ unique parts a year is an awesome accomplishment but pretty easy to do when you got a multi-billion dollar company behind you.
I had to ask his thoughts on consumer and open source 3D printing, he didn’t seem very interested to respond. “They’re too slow to get good surface texture” was his short answer to a rather in-depth question IMO. Was a bit disappointed with that as he left before I could discuss local botfarming. Womp womp.
Overall though, great experience and we will be sure to do it again next year.
