I hope something like this will be my next school project (it’s a bit off topic)

But before we can get started, I have to figure out, how much the parts cost. By now I see two possible versions:

A) I buy a complete airplane or a copter, pull it apart and just use the electronics. That will cost me approx. 20 - 25 US$ on Aliexpress.

Pros: The set just works.

B) I buy a Arduino nano, bluetooth shield, motors… and costs less than A???

Cons: This would be my first real arduino project and it could be time consuming untill everything works as expected.

What do you think about that? Is B an alternative?

but can you make them into shoes?

Pfffft, this is totally on-topic! I’ve gotta print me one of these! (Also, check out the OpenRC G+ group)

@Laston_Kirkland For blowing away the ugly smell?

heh, for uncontrolled kids kareeming into walls, mainly.

Only buy props if they’re cheaper than fans. (I built an air cushion in about 10 minutes with a spare 40mm fan.) You might want to rip the RC guts out of a dead toy. Also, bluetooth isn’t so cheap, so you might want to use one of the other radios. And finally, if you’re trying to save weight, use one of the mini arduinos or a teensy. You don’t need a lot of pin here.
