I installed a slot wall spoilerboard.

I installed a slot wall spoilerboard.

Wow. That looks great.

+Peter van der Walt Slot wall is typically used in retail environments. They make racks and shelves that lock into the slots. This is a good idea and application of it though.

Will I be able to find these at Home Depot? How much is a 4x8 sheet?

@Dat_Chu HD online is showing it. google “SLATWALL”

Sweet. Thanks.

Some places call it slat wall. Here’s a site which shows its more typical usage: http://diamondlifegear.com/slatwall.htm?gclid=Cj0KEQjw6OOoBRDP9uG4oqzUv7kBEiQA0sRYBLHFFFE52xjBxUiNCSgAUQ5XfxZITeibZQo02GA4NOEaAuS-8P8HAQ

I do not know about the strength of it. When you are going to anchor your work piece you will be relying on only a ~1/4" of MDF to hold the anchor in the slot. I remember hangers getting broken out of the wall while working retail in high school. The do make aluminum and plastic inserts to strengthen the slot.

Yeah. I’ll need to see about strength. Having large tnuts will help to distribute the forces.

I think it would be cool to use pieces of 1/8" thick aluminum bar with some tapped holes as t-nuts. That way the forces could be spread out over several inches.

Misumi sells aluminum slate that fits t-nut as well if you ever consider going the sturdier route. Costs twice as much I think. Last I checked it was $100+

I paid $63 Cdn for a 4’x8’ sheet of slotwall.

@nick_wiegand I think that one of my early projects will be to create some variations of T-nuts for the slot wall. I’d like to make some ouf of 1/4" MDF and using the Propell nuts, and also machine some out of aluminum and tap the threads in.

I also found this YouTube video which shows a way to create your own T-track out of MDF: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyt8zOJUQJ4

Great idea. 53 bucks for 2 * 24x48 on HD Online, free shipping. I recognize the hooks and hangers for this from my retail days.
