I just bought and installed buildtak on glass, but i hear is easily destroyed if you go too high on temp bed or smashed with the extruder,
Whats the standart temp for abs when using this type of adhesion system?
I tipically used 260c extruder @ 120c heatbed, i use Honeycomb drone line ABS, GLASS + pva glue

Never let your nozzle hot with contact on the buildtak surface for too long. Nor slashing through it too. You can safely reduce the heatbed temp (a lot) while you can reduce the hotend temp a little (you should find temp advices on their website). Note that one of the pros to use buildtak is to avoid the glass … (I’m using mk3 heatbed, so easy enough for me).

I talked to BuildTak about max bed temp and they said 120 C.

The important word here is “max”. If it works under 120, then use lower temp.

@Didier_MEDIAKLAN Well their wording was more of that you can safely print at 120 C but they wouldn’t recommend going much over that temperature.

Yes, that’s why it is a “max” value. As far I’m concerned, I’m using 90 C° with buildtak and ABS. Not sure if it’s going to work for you though.

Well i have hear people printed as low as 75 wich is crazy, but i would start from 100 and go down from there, lest hope i dont burn the house down

I always did fine with 80 C and a little hairspray for large prints

When I started with BuildTak, I found I could print with the bed about 20° colder. I didn’t change extrusion temperature. I have lately been raising the temperature again to help keep some difficult parts flat, parts that may not have been possible before.

Well, i printed and im amazed with builtak, printed at 85c and the print was so damn stuck to the bed that i had to remove the bed and use an scredriver to take it out, im never printing without it again, ever!

It’s really good stuff, yes. If the print was really hard to remove, you should consider printing with your nozzle a little higher at start. Another reason I like buildtak too is that if you’re careful with it, it can endure a lot and for quite some time.

@lightshadown that will fade after about a week of moderate printing and things wont feel glued to the bed, but still strongly held. If you like BuildTak checkout their FlexPlate system, I’m really loving it.

yes, but i already got 2 brand new sheets so i will have to wait, that thing its waaaayy better than using ABS slurry, i even manage to stare at my printer once again without having my eyes become red cause the fumes, lol

Well the system is actually separate from the sheet. First there’s the transitional layer with embedded magnets, then the flexible metal plate which you put the BuildTak onto. But theoretically you could use anything. I’ve gotta replace my current BuildTak sheet (messing with Z probe and forgot to recalibrate my Z height before I started a print) so I bought some PEI to apply and compare.
