I just realised there’s a faster to print model for my tests with .1 layers, detail and mass cooling than the little UltiMaker robot. Shame I don’t have a macro lens that can let you all see just how well this little Aria came out, the photo really doesn’t do it justice. Nice one @Louise_Driggers !
Scaled down in Netfabb Basic, 0.2 something to give a height of 29.92mm. And not hard at all. It was fingers crossed all the way that it wouldn’t blow away from the cooling fan blast!
The corkscrew mode of Simplify3D used for vases has me wondering, just how low a layer height can we go to before an extruder has problems feeding low enough volumes? And is it worth trying, or will PLA expansion cause too much drag under the print head? Simplify3D says it will take 3.5 hours to print at 0.01 layer height with a 2000% first layer. Only one way to find out… but not tonight.
@Mark_MARKSE_Emery I have wondered the same thing. I have gone down to .05 mm layer height at a very slow speed but I wonder if I could get .01. It would take forever though!!!
@Mark_MARKSE_Emery You know @Chris_Roberts ??!?? Small world syndrome:-)
I sure do! from my days at Goldman Sachs. How do you know Chris?
From my days at Demon.
@Dat_Chu the photo doesn’t do it justice, but this is how small I managed to take Louise’s dragon with LOTS of extra cooling. And I think extreme overhang needs the same help.
