I just wanted to ask for a little help.I have been using my off brand printer for a while now and I am waiting on a new Orballo frame and Smoothieware board in the mail.I have only used PLA in the past but I have been using ABS for a couple of days now with mixed results.I am printing at 250 on the hotend and 100-105 on the bed.I don’t have any warping issues and they tend to stick to the bed really well. The issue I am having is it takes forever for the heatbed to get up to temp. What can I do to help?I would like to stay away from using a separate power supply just for the bed.Would a higher wattage bed heater help at all.I am also waiting on some cork board to try to insulate it a bit.I also wanted to ask how some people are able to get such smooth looking prints with abs.I can see every layer on my prints and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to minimize that? Thanks
enclose your printer is a big one if it isn’t already. it will block cold drafts and retain ambient heat which will prevent warping and layer delamination, I personally set my bed at 90C with a nozzle around 235-240C.
As for getting super smooth prints look up acetone vapor smoothing. Is involves using acetone in an enclosed can to slightly melt the outside and rids the part of minor flaws(and details if you let it go too long)
Switch to a 24v powersupply and get a 24V bed heater & thermal cartridge for hotend.
