I know that the focus of this group is Arduino/ATMega, but I guess a lot of us are ‘generalist’ tinkerers.
So, if you want to grab yourself a FREE Galileo board and development kit from Intel/MS sign up!
http://www.windowsondevices.com/
And don’t think it’s US-only. I live in a remote part of SE Asia and they accepted my registration and have confirmed delivery.

BTW, it is Nano-shield and SW compatible and there are IDEs, images, apps, drivers for all flavours of OS: https://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-22226
Which is great as a Mac user
And as an ex-Intel employee, it’s nice to see them embracing the dark side…
@Mike_Thornbury Thanks for sharing. I am always looking for new toys
and free toys are the best.
So has anyone received their freebie yet? Being the incredibly patient person I am, I fired off an email and received this back:
"Hello Mike,
We’ve received an incredible number of kit requests from developers around the world, so there’s no guarantee a shipment wave will contain your board. They will be sent in waves, and the dates for these waves are not yet finalized.
We have started to send kits, and you will be notified as soon as new information becomes available.
Thanks for your support,
The Microsoft IoT Team"
So, not holding my breath…
