I know there’s a fine line between useful information and spam, but it was suggested that I tell about the 2 main guys behind IC3D and how we support our community. So, as short as possible… I, Michael Cao, have been building printers for about 2.5 years now with about 50 under my belt (several ToM’s but mostly MM’s). @Larry_Knopp , as many of you know, is very active in various forums and groups and loves helping people figure out print issues. He’s the IC3D support and “forum guy” while I do more public speaking in my central Ohio community. The pic below shows how we spend most of our weekends (basement of my house). We test as many hot-ends, extruders, heat beds, boards, motors, drive gears and hardware as we can get our hands on.

Last year, out of the frustration of finding “good” filament, we gave up and bought our own commercial extrusion line to make our own filament for our community. Currently, we’re working with several local schools, science museums, and makerspaces to provide deeply discounted printers. Since we make our own filament, we’re also able to provide it at cost to these non-profits so that more students can 3D print.

Thanks for letting me share. @Thomas_Sanladerer @ThantiK @Tim_Rastall

The UFID community would love to talk with you about your filament production efforts. Check us out.

Thanks guys. @Ross_Hendrickson I’ll join and intro myself there and see what we can do.
