I know this is a long shot - anyone here happen to be in vegas and have a 16x16 (16cmx16cm) flexible led panel that I could buy off of them (WS2812 or APA102) and be able to meet up tomorrow (saturday) morning? Defcon plan thwarted by having grabbed a dead board from home when packing…

Good luck …

Long shot- but looks like there’s a makerspace in vegas. https://synshop.org/
Looks like they don’t open until 3pm tomorrow but might be worth giving them a call earlier anyway in case someone is around.

Emergency idea: How dead is your board? Mabe it’s just a problem with the first led(s)? Or was every single one killed by over-voltage?

Fairly dead - if I jump over the 2nd led, I can light a row and a half, but I can’t get any of the other LEDs to light, even when jumping power and ground as well as data.

Damn! I hope you find an appropriate replacement on time. Good luck! Last thing I could imagine would be a strip >256 leds, serpentine layout, with mapped out curves if the physical space allows that work arround…

sadly, I really need the thin, 16x16cm form factor (~100 leds/m) . All the rest of the leds that I have with me are only 60/m, so spaced too far out - and then there’s the do I want to do up 80 solder joints along with all the wire cutting etc… etc… … it’s a bit tough to feel motivated to do that right now

I strongly encourage you to feel motivated! I guess it’s worth it. What is a hacker life about? It’s all about improvising and to deal in a creative way with the little you have… C’mon! Please.
