I made a “magic trashcan” which I’m honestly proud of. It’s an ESP8266 (Wemos D1 mini) module, a charger module and a small 150mAh lipo battery packed into a miniature 3d printed Trashcan together with a handfull of WS2818 leds. It’s only about 7cm tall and connects to a google calendar, mainly to remind me to put out the trashcan. Based on a hex color code in the appointment’s description it will start glowing in that color the evening before. A tilt sensor disables the alarm and a rainbow animation is played for confirmation. It now acknowledged the alarm will repeated every 10 minutes. I built a small charing socket using one of these micro USB magnet adapters but that still needs some mechanical improvement
