I made this project to visually map WIFI signal strength.
Its a 2 m wooden pole with 99 LEDs on it and I use a camera with time lapse on it to capture the images.

Interesting project. Are you learning anything you didn’t expect about the WiFi signals around you?
Do you have another photo or video showing varying strengths? I’m guessing the photo which has all the pixels lit up blue is not showing any sort of variance because it’s such a sort distance traveled?

Have you considered green instead of blue so it would look like you’re able to see into the Matrix? :stuck_out_tongue:

So far I am not finding much variance at all. I am going to try down at the beach front which should show some changes. I tried using a Knightrider effect as well, so that the wave length would be proportional to the signal strength.

I started with white LEDs, Green would look interesting

have you guys seen this?

Oh that’s great! Thanks @Stuart_Taylor . I never would have guessed there’s so much variance in such a small range.

I changed my display and it shows tthe WIFI signal variation a bit clearer.

Cool, much more visible then before.

Hmm looks great! I’m thinking how it would look with a change of camera angle (looking down) and rastering back n forth the x axis while moving toward the camera on the z axis.
