I need help.

I bought a new Powerspec 3d Pro 2 last week. This is not my first printer…I got into 3D printing when the Thingomatic came out and then I built my own MendelMax V2 using the Thingomatic to bootstrap the printed parts.

I have the machine set up to print PLA on the left extruder…and ABS on the right extruder. I am using a SD card to transfer the print code to the machine. (Class 4 SD Card).

I am using Makerware to slide my files.

Here is the problem. Everything has been fine if I do a single material print…but when I do a dual material…in this case a ABS raft and then PLA for the part…the printer will stop for a while between material changes.

In this case it stops, spits out a ton of PLA in one spot, then proceeds to print normally. this creates a large glob of plastic in the middle of the print which is no good.

Other multi prints have a similar issue with the print head stopping between material changes and oozing/melting the plastic under it the nozzles.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is the machine junk?

I am really not impressed by this machine so far.

Thank you for your help!

I didn’t know one could combine PLA and ABS in a single print. If you resolve your problem, I hope you’ll note the solution here.

which firmware??. sounds like its purging the nozzle but the parking not defined “nozzle moved away from the print before the purge!!”

Is this a single nozzle hotend , if so is having pla and abs at the same time , a good idea given the thermal difference between the two.

It is a dual extruder machine, using Sailfish 7.7…or at least the Flashforge version of sailfish. It is interesting you mention purging because there is a setting in makerware for making purge walls. I will add a purge wall into the slice setup and see what happens…thank you!

I added a purge wall in the makerware settings and it worked. Thanks!
