I need help with a couple things. First off I’d like to say that i had been using the trial of T2Laser engraver previously, and really like this interface instead. Also the fact that it’s free is way more attractive to me.
I have set up my eleksmaker a5 laser engraver with grbl 1.1j, followed and installed laserweb. I am able to move the laser in the X and Y direction, test the laser power to ensure it turns on etc.
I am having 2 problems that I haven’t been able to figure out. The first being that I don’t know a way to manually reset the home position after the laser has moved, other than disconnecting and reconnecting. In T2 laser this was done by right clicking on the home button to reset the values back to 0. I also noticed that the home laser button seems to do nothing for me. I have ‘$H’ set up as the command for homing, but when pressing the button i get “error:5”
Aside from the above problem I am having problems with keeping the laser inside the workspace. I have a workspace of 140x200mm effectively and have set the settings up such that my when i import a png it is well within these limits. I can jog the laser around and see the green pin follow the laser position accurately. but when i import a PNG file and size it so it’s roughly 20x30mm it seemingly decides it wants to go way outside of the working space. The same goes when trying to view the outline.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I can’t wait to see what i can do with this thing!
After some trial and error I found that using G28 works instead which is fine. I don’t have homing switches so it’s not really that necessary to work for my setup anyways.
I originally figured the set zero button would redefine the current position back to zero. It does not seem to do anything for me. Is there a certain “state” that it needs to be in to accomplish this?
If i command my laser to go home it starts in bottom left corner origin. If i issued G0 Y20 it the DRO reads Y:100mm. If I jog 2x in 10mm increments from 0,0 i end up at Y:20.
I understand that homing by definition would require switches, i just wanted to note that it wasn’t working for me. I was looking to use it as a work-around for not having the set zero buttons working for me (turn off eleks maker power, press home and give it a second to set to 0,0 then turn it back on).
