I need some guidance!! I’m running ramps 1.4v and i m not sure what voltage to set the stepper drivers to. Right now its around 0.366 V what should they be set to? Or what range rather. Thanks in advance
What is the stepper drive and stepper motor ?
nema 17’s on A4988 Stepper Drivers
lol i guess that information is kinda of important
The general rule is .4V and then go from there. If you can run on .366 then i would stay there.
U happen to know what the upper limit is? If I get close and motors still don’t move then I can point to wiring next
You need to know the top end amperage of your motors. I have 2 amp nema17 and .3 amp nema17 motors. Big difference
A4988 vreference is 70% of amperage. So 0.366 is like 0.5A - Your motors are likely rated for close to 1A, you’re safe up to 0.7V generally - but the A4988s are a little sensitive.
Just turn them up until they have significant strength to move.
Seriously need more information on your stepper motors to give you the correct info.
I run most of my nema 17 motors at .9 to 1.2… but nema “17,23,…” is not a reference to power rating. What’s inside this referenced frame varies largely.
Thanks for the help folks I finally settled in 0.633V everything is running beautifully so far.
