I need some help! We ordered 3D printers (DaVinci Pro and Jr) from XYZ

I need some help! We ordered 3D printers (DaVinci Pro and Jr) from XYZ printing. I haven’t heard back from them and it is difficult to get through via phone. Does anyone else have these printers? I cannot get one of my Pros to calibrate. My Jr. continues to say demo printing, but isn’t printing anything.

Thanks!

I don’t own one myself, but I haven’t heard the greatest things about these printers.

I can confirm that. I had the original 2.0 Duo. It only took proprietary ABS cartriges which was a pain but you can get around that by flashing Repetier. Then you just have to do a lot of calibrating because the movement system is so-so. I sold mine and bought a Printrbot Simple Metal and never regretted it. What are you planning to use the printers for? I can give you a couple suggestions on what to get instead, assuming you can get your money back.

@Adam_Steinmark Thanks! I actually got 2 or 3 running and printing successfully! I know they had a rough start but I am hoping this company can work to improve their product. Their price is so affordable for schools. Thank you for the replies. I will be reaching back to you if I continue to have issues and need suggestions!

Sure, feel free to message me on hangouts if you have any questions. For schools on a budget, I would highly recommend the Printrbot Play. It’s affordable at only $400, extremely robust, and it’s mostly open so you can teach about the kinematics of the printer or upgrade parts as a small project. If you can save up, I’d recommend an Ultimaker (any size) simply for their speed and reliability. I’ve taught some 3D printing classes and the biggest problem I run into is not having enough time to complete a print in the time of one class, but with the Ultimaker’s speed that problem is a little smaller. I would also recommend as a prerequisite for your class, that students take geometry and have some basic 3D modeling skills.
