I needed chunky pieces of bamboo and the only real bamboo I could get hold of was either too thin or too thick. So I drew it in rhino and then 3d printed it, as you do.
Then it needed to be sprayed gold and, perversely, the best way I could think of holding the pieces such that I could get to all their important little places was to tape them to bamboo poles and stake them in the lawn
Which leads to this strange, but rather cool image. Bamboo kebab anyone?
Great, now I have “The old Bamboo” from Mary Poppins stuck in my head…
Ok… scratching my head… why? What’s all this about?
@Greg_Nutt Heh yes, not at all obvious.
We have an old TFT screen (driven from an old laptop) which acts as a photo frame, hanging on the wall. It needs to look less like an old monitor, and more like a picture frame that’s in keeping with the rest of the room.
So the plan was to give it a bamboo frame that covers the edge of the monitor. Trouble is we could only find bamboo like you’d use for a stick in the garden, or 60mm diameter bamboo poles and we needed something between the two sizes. So I’ll be sticking these around the edge of the screen – there are eight mitred pieces as well as the ones in the above photo.
I’ll post a photo of the completed project when it’s up and looking good (and will quietly forget to do so if it looks bad :-).
