I ordered my filament from http://123inkt.nl a dutch web-shop.
But they changed supplier without warning.
I know that a smaller diameter spool is bad.
My question is what can I say about the consequences from this change.
OLD filament (witch was good):
- Smallest diameter 9cm
- Bag was vacuum
- Big silica gel antimoisture bag +/- 6 by 6cm
NEW filament (not tested)
- Smallest diameter 6.4cm
- A non-vacuum bag
- Small silica gel antimoisture bag +/- 3.5 by 3.5cm
silica gell will do just as good a job as vacuumed bag if not better, is just to avoid moisture in storage. in reguards to the real size you can transfer it on a bigger real and let it adjust to its new size over a couple of days, in a nice dry space obviously. Be good to get an update of how the spool performs in a print, if you have any problems with it. good luck
I was thinking of getting a refund. But i think i need to give a good reason why this is not as good as the old one.
But it is good to know it can be re-spooled, I thought that it would not work.
@James_Newton1
the silica gel pads are in both old & new but the new(bad one) the silica gel bag is smaller and has no vacuum so i don’t think that that is the same quality since I payed with the idea that would get the old spools since they didn’t say any where that the spools where different.
sure i mean i see the problems with tighter spools. But i think, “you changed suppliers and didn’t tell me” is a good enough reason
I am having no issues whit my pla from http://123inkt.nl i have the “small” transparent spools. I do need to print a bit hotter then advertised but thats all.
If those are 3mm filament, then the tighter spooling might be a real problem for feeding, and if it gets brittle, breakage.
@Jeff_DeMaagd yes I have 3mm filament. So it is probably better to send it back. @Imko_Beckhoven_van do you use the 3mm filament or the 1,75mm?
I called them today, they didn’t hear any thing bad about the spools. So they wanned to check first with the superiors so I have to wait for a answer.
I told them that 30% of the spool is a smaller diameter (that is the part that probably breaks or will get stuck in my bowden tube.) So I asked them for a 30% discount or I want to send all 3 spools back with a full discount.
Now I have to wait for a replay…
I just received a reply that I talk bullshit and that their fillament is perfect and good tested (only slightly better expressed)
And I have there warranty that it is good. Yeah that works when their filament get stuck in my printer or the print quality is very bad.
I’m not that happy right now…
Now I have to think about a reply.
That’s sad. The material may well be good, but when 3mm filament is tightly wound, it just risks avoidable problems.
I called them again. Now I just said that i want to return the spools and get my money back. Thy wanted to say again that there product was good but as precaution I already told him that thy already told me that here filament was good by there standards. So they had nothing to say.
Then i had to confirm 3 times that all the backs with the wrong spools where still closed and unused. After this all i asked them if i could send it back with a freepost from them. And they agreed.
Now I only have to wait until they receive my filament back. and then to get my money back.
