I placed an order for 45 lots of 12mm WS2811 IP68 pixels each lot

I placed an order for 45 lots of 12mm WS2811 IP68 pixels each lot is supposed to be 25 pixels and a package of 200 30mm led Pixels. I figured $0.36/pixel with DHL shipping isn’t bad. Today I open my package and find 2250 12mm pixels and 200 30mm pixels. Happy Birthday to me! Well it turns out the site had miss printed the number of pixels in each bunch and the store did try to contact me to let me know that actually bought 2250 pixels. But that means I paid $0.18 per pixel for the little ones. Very good deal indeed.

Time to decorate the neighborhood.

I want to see what you end up using all those delicious looking LED’s for!

These are some of my ideas Candy canes, snowmen, Starry Night, Giant flashing ornaments for my oak tree. Need to find a plastics and composites dealer that works with makers. For some reason the shops around are all about oil and gas…

I need 200 for my design you do have a lot haha

How much per string and how long was each string?

And if u could who did you buy from? Lots of venders from that site.

Some of the Math on that site seems a bit fuzzy to me.

very fuzzy. The LEDs work and I received 2250 very cheap.

@Clint_Eastwood You have to realize that Aliexpress is like ebay in that there are 1000’s of businesses selling under the same website.

Typically I expect to pay between $0.28 and $0.42 per LED pixel.

In this deal I paid $$0.18/LED pixel from Shenzhen Raysflt Technology Co.,Ltd. The deal is gone. I think this was a sell out of some smoky merchandise (they have a bit of a burnt wire smell). The store URL is:http://www.aliexpress.com/store/406345
Alice Tian was the person that I was working with at Raysfit.

Here are some of the other vendors I have used on AliExpress:

I have also bought from Ray Wu’s store:http://www.aliexpress.com/store/701799 About the best prices I have found and pay attention to the lead times because orders dont always ship fast.

I bought pixels from the LED Light store at: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/931330.
Average prices and sometimes a good deal with shipping included. Shipped fast.

I bought my 16*16 panels from HQ-Market http://www.aliexpress.com/store/416531

I bought lots of pixels and strips from Shenzhen Rita Lighting Technology Limited at http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/292034610.html . very close in price to Ray Wu’s store and typically the same shipping. If you look at Ray Wu’s descriptions the brand name is RITA - so I think he sells these products. Ray Sun was who I contacted at this store.

Yes. And they are all in the Asian market place. The quality and quantity are sometimes fuzzy. Returns are difficult at best. Just looking for some personal knowledge. I really would like to see your end product. Looking to maybe do a mega tree next year in my yard for a project with rgb pixels.

@Clint_Eastwood I sold a small number of pixels to help out @Brett_Hansen win his car competition. I don’t have any extra right now. Perhaps Brett can chime in on how the pixels worked for him?

They should be fairly straight forward as they are equivalent to strips, just in a different form factor. Connect them to your controller and start writing code … But as @Michael_Sharnet pointed out, make sure you read the descriptions. Many times it’s also worth it to actually communicate with the seller. I have had sellers give me a better price than what’s listed online simply because I either was a first time customer or because of the quantity I was ordering. I also tend to order bulk items from http://alibaba.com instead of http://aliexpress.com. The latter is geared towards consumers with small (ish) quantities whereas the former will sell you just about anything in large quantities … which I tend to do.

@Clint_Eastwood I agree with @Ashley_M_Kirchner_No , the best way to go is to communicate directly with the vendor before you buy. If you have any questions about a product listing - get the questions cleared up before you buy. Sometimes the vendor makes mistakes. Often times English is isn’t the vendors first (second or third) language so translations can be an issue and language differences make it hard for vendors to catch errors.

Communicating with vendors builds trust and hopefully a long term business relationship. With two exceptions, each vendor I have contacted has responded within a reasonable time. The two vendors in question never shipped my product - and I received my money back from AliExpress through the dispute process. I have received defective merchandise and all I did was send a picture of the defective device - showing the defect and asked for a refund without shipping the item back. All of the vendors were willing to refund my money without returning the merchandise under these conditions.

Considering the manufacturing quantity (some of them boast 250K to 500K a day), the margin for defective products, to them, is acceptable. After all, most individuals like most of us here order less than 1% of that …

they worked great for my copetition I won but i also had a great xmas tree because of them thanks again for them
