I saw some of these posted a few days ago. I had to take a stab at it. I printed both at the same time (I have two boys and they get jealous). I got to test small details and retraction between objects on my Bowden setup. Worked pretty well, but could use more cooling on the top keyring area.

So I finally found out where these things started popping up from! 3Dhubs.com apparently has you print one of these and send pictures in order to join their 3D printer network and print things for money.
Was wondering why everyone was printing out Marvin. Like @ThantiK said, it’s a way to get a free review from 3dhubs. The more customer reviews you receive, the higher you go up the hub ladder.
I like the idea of having a cute, standardized test piece for judging a printer’s quality. Marvin might not cover all bases, especially when it comes to mechanical parts, but it’s a pretty good start.
