I scored some Brownie points, by printing a replacement handle for our waffle maker. The original handle broke off several years ago. The handle was designed using DesignSpark Mechanical, and printed on my Mendel90 printer with E3D hotend. The filament is 3mm Taulman Bridge Nylon. Right now I can’t say enough good things about this filament. So far I’m at 100% successful prints with it, except for one where the filament kinked going into the feed tube, and starved the printer.

If I had one criticism of the Taulman Bridge Nylon: I’d say please provide a spool with wider flanges. The current spools come filled to the rim, causing tangled uncoiling and spillover.

Awesome stuff!

Oh I hate it when the filament ends up slipping off the roll. More than a few times I’ve had to untangle a tight roll of filament from my spool holder after a print has failed. Most often with my ColorFabb PHA filament.

Also, how well does it hold up to the heat?

I have yet to try it, But the mounting surface doesn’t get hot enough to sizzle a wet finger tip, so under 100C shouldn’t be a problem for the Nylon.

@Robert_Wozniak , be aware that Nylon’s Heat Deflection Temp is only 60C. Doesn’t take much to get it to warp.

This is exactly the mundane type of everyday use for a 3D printer that really excites me. Good work!

Have you performed a burn-in to make sure that the nylon does not melt? I would attach a heat resistant material on the areas that are in contact with the waffle maker.

I turned the waffle iron up to max for 15 min. It seems to be fine.

@David_Galloway exactly as it should be, all hail the useful user.

Thanks @Tim_Page-Brown … I think?

Cool! That looks great

@Robert_Wozniak it was meant as a compliment, honest!

@Ashley_Webster , you’ll easily hit 264psi with a screw head tightened down.
