I spent the day up at Stratasys today in Mass just north of Wooster.

Amazing equipment, FDMs and PolyJets of commercial quality.

Here’s some photos from today.
The models were printed on site, the painting was done by an in house artist who isn’t working there anymore.

I’m trying to repair my Dimension BST 768; it looks like a 4800.00 re certification and service contract, it’s 9 years old and other things may go on it, I’d want those issues covered as its too expensive to purchase parts adhoc. There’s quite a difference in reliability and quality compared to my Replicator2x. It comes a cost I suppose. Stratasys is now offering 50% off materials for edu clients such as myself so it makes the repair a little less painful .

Regardless of where you stand on the whole 3d printer grassroots/commercial debate you have to appreciate these machines.

Wow you are right this does nook Great!
Anthony where in Mass are they located?

The commercial grade stuff is very nice. I wouldn’t mind paying more for a nicer machine, I just hate being tied to a single source for materials, especially at $200+/kg at that for uPrint ABS filament, $400/kg for Mojo ABS filament.

@Jeff_DeMaagd I agree totally.
One way to look it is, ensured quality control.
Kinda like Apple philosophy, which is an entirely different debate but I see the comparison.

@Jeff_DeMaagd They do that to insure the quality and consistency of the prints and have end to end control of the process. If you are spending $100k on a Colorjet chances are paying for the material won’t be an issue. Those costs are passed to the clients. When the process can save the client thousands of dollars and many person hours it’s a pretty small cost in the big picture.
