I thought this might be of interest to folks here, since it involves the Shaper Origin (sort of a CNC, but really more computer-vision assisted router). It is handheld, so I was able to use it to cut out an exact recess for LEDs in old timber beam, and then cut an exact pressure-fit acrylic diffuser to sit in the recess. I thought it was in an interesting mix of old industrial material with modern CNC carving. The Shaper Origin part in the video starts at about https://youtu.be/ZDNB5tVi334?t=3m30s, if that is all you are interested in.
I’ve always wanted to try one of those, and now even moreso.
As they don’t make a 240v version, fk those guys
And… all the routing would have been just as quick and easy using battens and clamps to define your cutout.
It’s a nice toy and can handle stuff I cant fit anywhere near the gantry of my Ox, but as Origin decided 90% of the world didn’t count, I won’t ever support their products. I’m sure they will get fat and happy feeding the US market, but that’s not what the maker movement is about - and it would have been so easy to make it 110/220v right from the get go.
Festool has - I’ll go with them
