I tried updating my printrbot v2 and the mac was showing this.
So you’re saying it gets to “erasing” the old firmware and then what? Just hangs there?
Have you updated firmware with a Mac before? How long did it take to erase it then?
I use PCs running Linux and laptop running Win 7. I’ve only update/reinstalled my Printrbot '14 firmware using Win so I’m at a loss here.
Are you sure you’re setting the board-type correctly (that’s if that’s a choice via Mac)?
It just gets that error after about 15 minutes of nothing.
Did you set the jumper correctly?
I thought it was a “given” that you’d correctly entered Programming Mode on your Printrboard but, now that I pay attention to the entire screenshot, I also recommend that you double-check. Did you manipulated a jumper on your Printrboard and press Reset before attempting to firmware flash?
With Printrboards the Jumper/Reset maneuver is a required step.
I did put the jumper on and hit rest I followed the instructions after reading through about five times.
OK. Thanks for clarifying that.
Without checking 1st, I’m wondering if there’s more then one Mac program to accomplish sending a hex firmware file to your Printrboard? And whether you’ve successfully done that to this particular Printrboard, with this particular Mac, before?
If you download the hex, just drop it on the app icon and it should load it. If the firmware looks for the hex on github and fails to find it (for whatever reason) , it may fail.
This exact thing happened to me today. I fixed it by using a different computer (also a mac, but running 10.8 instead of 10.6)
I also tried dropping the hex file on the app icon and after that didn’t work I tried it on two different macs.
