i used taulman tglasse filament to redesign my exo-voice mask. its so much easier to work with than abs and nylon while being slightly more flexible than abs and more light refracting than nylon, although the lights arent on in this video. http://youtu.be/acsKcNo3PUg

thanks! the hands play notes sequentially, like a sax, but instead of a sax sound, it plays a gestural synthesizer that shapes the sound based on hand position (accelerometers), and controls a looping and effects system as well. altogether it is a 3 way wireless networked interface called an exo-voice. this build of the mask will make it much more shareable when i post the open source files in the next couple of weeks because it is designed to snap together and is printable with any reprap, using tglasse (more expensive) or nylon weed whacker line from the hardware store.

I’ve been following for a while (years now)… Nice progress.

actually i use the roving rn-xv wifi trancievers mated to arduino fios which communicate with my computer running pure data. i run linux but would love to play with android once the latency issues for low latency audio are sorted.

pla is too brittle. i made my first systems with it and love it for its ease of use but i tend to stress some parts more than others. nylon, especially cheap weed whacker line, is almost perfect; it sticks well with no heated bed (i have to replace the mosfet on my huxley bed) and produces indestructable prints, BUT, it is opaque-ish and i depend on the transparency of the materials to refract light neccessary to convey the light synthesis. so the tglasse is a really nice hybrid of all 3; its more flexible than pla but stiffer than nylon and glows beautifully, while looking very kinda “kryptonian” in person, especially with the hexagon fill.

the semi stiff-flexible quality is allowimg me to investigate structural flexing in a way that pla and abs wouldnt allow while being more stiff than nylon in places where stiffness is crucial.

oh, and “Hi!” ive been lurking for a while but busy with stuff. i will try to jump in the conversation more often

Is this really recorded 90 years in the future? 2104? Now that’s impressive😁
