I’ve got another question:

I’ve been trying to configure some NPN-normally closed proximity sensors on my PMDX-126 with ESS to Mach 3. The sensors require 6v-30v power source (which I have been using from the +12v port on the J11 and J12 connectors (for 2 independent sensors). Each is connected to the corresponding GND port of each connector and the signal (Black) wire is connected to the “#” terminal to each corresponding connector. The sensors are typical (China made) proximity sensors. I have been unable to get the sensors to operate properly. I cannot get the Estop to allow me to operate if I have 2 sensors connected. If I have only one connected, I can turn off the estop and the machine will operate, but the sensor doesn’t respond when activated. I assume it’s a configuration error. Do y’all have an idea of the problem?

I have similar Chinese sensors and the wire color is not what you expect. I had assumed red was 6-30volt input. It isn’t atleast on the ones I have. Check the manual for yours.

I have the typical blue, black & brown

You may have to put a 5K ohm or so pull up resistor on the output of the sensor. If your controller is looking for a signal that is high or low it won’t get the high from the High-Z NPN transistor when it is off. When ON the NPN transistor is a current sink to ground. The color code for proxes is Brown-+V , Blue- OV, Black-Out.

@Frank_Howard I think I will need to put a resistor on there as well. Others have had the same issue apparently.
