I want a map over the world where people can set a pin where they live and add a note and/or a picture of a OpenRC they have made. Anyone know of such a map service online? (Needs to be free of course)

The InMoov project in france has one. Not sure of its source though.
Google maps is easy, you just have to format a csv file correctly with addresses and upload it
You could even have a google firm online for people to submit addresses- probably just city, not full addresses. There are free services that take addresses and convert them to god coordinates. A few years ago the toolchain was a little frustrating but all free.

Is anyone willing to try to add a build to this one? (see link below) It seems simple enough for people to bother. As that´s my main concern, it needs to be dead simple or people won´t care to submit a build to the map.

Hmm, apparently being totally “open” this map attracts some people only interested in promoting themselves and their business… It makes me doubt this will actually work in the long run… Hmm, what do you guys think?
Map admin rights would be useful.
why not have people submit their locations and picture to an admin and then the admin makes the post. Pretty much what Andre’ said.

Cool, André. Nice to meet you as it were. Well Daniel, there has been at least one benefit of the map, as I discovered another Canadian building these nearby. One would hope over time the folks building these will outnumber the “spammier” posts.
I’ve changed it now so all entries needs to be approved by the admin. I think that’s ok, its still super easy to add a pin. =)
