I want to fit 15mm linear rail (MGN15) to 40mm x 40mm aluminium extrusions

I want to fit 15mm linear rail (MGN15) to 40mm x 40mm aluminium extrusions that have a 10mm slot. The slot is stepped, however, so the slot width at the mounting face is actually 11.6mm. Since the back of the rail is chamfered, the width of the back of the rail that contacts the extrusion is only 12.5mm. This leaves precious little overlap.

Has anyone done this before? Can you tell me if it works somehow even with such a small overlap?

Hi, you have to put a sheet of metal with a width of at least 30mm between the rail and the aluminium. The sheet can bolt to the aluminium with hammer nuts and the rails usually have holes to put screws that bolt in the sheet of metal. Not sure if i made myself understand

You made yourself very clear, thank you.
