I want to use my android tv stick with this awesome app, but my shitty mk808c is not recognizing any of my printers (printrbot and solidoodle4). Why is that? Works fine on my phone (s2). My tv stick uses a allwinner a20 chip if that makes any difference.
are you sure that the device either has a USB Host port or is USB OTG capable ? What error message do you get ?
Please read the FAQ : http://gcodeprintr.dietzm.de/FAQ.html#detecterror
I both have a usb and a otg port on my device, just says “no usb device found”
Edit: I have used a mouse, keyboard and harddrives without any problems.
As described in the FAQ, the usb device must be detected by the Android OS. Please try the FAQ tips (e.g. powered hub). If all do not help, you could try to fix the problem with “USB Host diagnostics” App (root required)
could I get access to the beta version?
@stian_heggelund sure. you need to opt-in here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/de.dietzm.gcodesimulatorprinter after that it will appear as a normal update. But don’t expect any improvement for your usb detection problem, the basic detection is done by the Android OS and not by the App.
ok, but I tried out the app called “usb host controller” and that app seem to detect the printer fine. comes up as “Teensyduino USB serial”
usb host controller might directly access the usb device instead of using the Android USB detection. Does Android show a notification when you connect the printer and ask you for which app it should start ?
no it dose not
If Android would detect the printer it would popup a notification even if the App is not running. Did you try to fix the problem with “USB Host Diagnotics” App ? It helped me once with an Odys Tablet
I rooted my device and used USB host diagnostics, finally it works! thank you so much for your help.
great. I’m glad that I could help you.
