I wanted to offer this simpler version of a meteor shower example. Jon Burroughs had posted his adaptation, but in trying to use it in my project I had to boil it down to it’s barest elements. I thought someone else might be able to benefit from it as well.

I’m not familiar with the original, but this looks nice! I’m very new at this, but I may try adding some randomization in the loop to have a meteor “appear” only every now and then.
Great job, yeah I admit that the first rendition was rather ‘dirty’. It was my first successful attempt at coding with Arduino in general. I basically was cutting and pasting code I found to make effects and different animations.
heh - using this on a 16x16 Matrix with meteorLength = 16 and LEDCOUNT 256 gives me a nice ‘rotating DNA’ impression
