I was about to purchase the Ramps 1.4 board from Geeetech but then I read a comment that said the capacitors are not rated for 24 volts. Is this true and if so are there any cheap ramps boards that can be upgraded to 24v.

Some cheap ramps boards come with 36 volt caps on them.

I think it’s worth checking out other options. RAMBos are a much more durable board. RAMBo mini uses all automotive style fuses. If you insist user-replaceable drivers, look at a RUMBA, Geeetech sells RUMBAs too.

I decided to go with the Mks gen 1.3 board 40 dollars + about 10 for the steppers drivers.

Aside from the floppy USB connector, the printrboard is a great alternative to ramps.

The printrboard revf is 24 volt compatible. All components are compatible. We don’t advertise that, b/c our heat bed and hotends are 12v only. I do have a custom dual core Ubis 13s that has a longer melt zone and runs the two 12v cores in series so it works.

You should visit http://panucatt.com and look for the X3 (marlin) or the X5 (smoothie) and be done with it.

I have two X3, two X5, three Viki and i am getting the M1 for my cnc machine.

I had nothing but bad experiences wit geeetech.
