I was just able to recover a print that was 44 hours in and

@Daniel_Jackman wow! That’s a lot better than I thought it would be.

@Kevin_Danger_Powers by the looks of how the seam came together, it looks like it had completed the layer on the left side of the print, and then jammed before it finished the right side. All in all, I think it came out great!

For those following, I think the end result looks fantastic. I only notice the seam because I know exactly where to look. From 18” away, you can’t even tell. missing/deleted image from Google+

I put a quarter under the nose to give some size perspective. missing/deleted image from Google+

Very nicely done my friend! The picture of the print continuing was what I wanted to see. This came out nice.

Your trick of homing only XY (since Z position was still known) was a big save for you. Smart.

The hardly noticeable seam means you measured to within at least 0.1mm of the correct height for recovery.

Darth Vader would be proud. Impressive! Most impressive.

The force is strong with this one! :slight_smile:

Wow

Very nice !

@Techknow_Atlas hello

Great print!. I have done the same thing on a simpler print. The key is to get the registration correct - good homing and limit switches. I also kept the first part of the G-code file - before the layer 1 tag. You can set the temperatures in g-code as well, ensuring they are correct during the print process. The latest Prusa keeps track of position within the layer and is able to recalibrate itself e.g. if it picks up that the print head has been knocked or missed a step.

hello

hey Dan, which slicer created the gcode you used? I tried this with a print of mine but it moved into position, stop, and then proceeded to extrude a bunch of material. I got looking at the code a bit more in detail and I think the extrusion is set to absolute along with the coordinates.

@Tom_Leaf I use Cura 15.04.6. It seems to be the most stable at keeping the settings that I apply.
