I was so pleased with my first results that I decided to make an effort to repair the slicing-faults. A couple of weeks ago someone here mentioned friction welding to repair objects.
I love it. Here are the before/ after pictures.
Very cool. Can you share more about the technique you used?
@John_Davis I don’t remember the website, but it’s simple, really. You need a Dremel or something like that, as long as it’s high speed. Take a length of 3mm filament, and feed it in the dremel. Leave about 10 mm out.
The next part takes some practice, but not much. With the dremel on the highest speed, push the filament lightly to the object. Stay in one place for a bit, the filament is going yo melt due to the friction. Once you have a nice bit of melted filament on the object, you can move some. Once the filament is used up, repeat. And repeat. After that, filing, sanding, anything is possible.
Thanks!
