I was wandering, is there a RepRap kind of project for CNCs???

My brother is a luthier and we were talking how it would be great if he had a CNC machine, but I’m not finding anything I could help him build at home.

Shapeoko CNC kit? https://shop.carbide3d.com/
(More a kit for home shop than reprap.)

Google “MPCNC”, it’s an awesome project

CNC was previous to 3d printing, there should be a lot of material online

There are combined machines, CNC, Engraving, Scanning, and 3D printing, but so far no one has reported having one or using one.

Thanks for the ideas.
I think MPCNC is what we were looking for.

@Andre_Frazatto the one I built has a knife cutter for vinyl, laser which works for burning wood(3.5 watt), a router and now I’m working on adding a print head for 3D printing. The project is a really great way to educate yourself. Money well spent.

@Dan_Baldwin I already built a Pruda i3 myself, so I should have a good idea what I’m getting into :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s cool to know about all those possibilities.

My preferred keyword is GRBL.
There are some cool webinterfaces when using it with an RPi and an Arduino.

But that’s only the software side of the project.

@Dushyant_Ahuja I met the inventor of this at MRRF this year. He was great to talk with. His site has lots of good resources as well.
