I was wondering about how long does the heated bed of the Prusa i3 Mk2 takes to heat up to 110 C for ABS. Any info on that? Thanks!
to long ^^ I think about to upgrade the heatbed to 24V.
Atm, I’m not able to print abs because of less power on the heatbed.
@Daniel_Scheidler how long is too long ?
@Demetris_Stavrou i switch off after 30minutes and change to PLA
Is this about the heat bed on the new genuine Prusa or the old Mk2 PCB heat bed?
Hey @Jeff_DeMaagd . I am talking about the original Prusa i3 Mk2 printer with the MK42 heated bed.
OK, I wouldn’t do ABS unless it’s in an enclosed build volume. The bigger the part, the bigger deal it is. I’d really look at the Duplicator 6 with the side panel & top cover.
I’d even look at the Cubicon Single, as it has a temperature controlled enclosure and air filtration. But they’re a rather obscure brand, I only know of Joel Telling reviewing Cubicon’s Style on his YouTube channel.
@Jeff_DeMaagd Thanks. Yes I agree with you, enclosure is a must for ABS. Actually I currently printing ABS well with my Mendel90 (enclosed) but I have to wait for the bed to heat up for about 10 minutes. This becomes problematic when you do 20-30 minute prints. For larger parts its OK.
Anyway, that is the reason I was wondering about the Prusa i3 Mk2.
