I woke up to this. 3D printing finished just before the filament ran out. only 8mm was left before extruder. All the 3D printing gods were with me tonight :slight_smile:

Go and buy a lottery ticket :slight_smile:

I look at the spool, all filament gone I was like FML. I looked at print, it looked finished, hm weird. I looked in the extruder and there was still 8mm left, I was like waaaaaaaaat?

Have anyone built a tool to melt and connect two filaments ?

Yes Richrap and others

@Sebastian_Schmidt
I’ve tried unsuccessfully several times. A specialized tool would need to be made to “crimp” the filament at the binding point to keep it within +/-0.05mm or something. Every time I’ve tried it clogs at the joint.

Maybe it’s because Rich was using 3mm filament?

@Michelle_Sleeper yes i was also thinking on special tool.
Maybe we can steal ideas from glassfaser?
