I would like to know what recommendations you have for operating a Replicator 2 in a Linux environment. I am using a Chromebook that boots into an Ubuntu XFCE environment. Makerware isn’t wanting to work correctly (Background Services Unavailable) and I’d like to see if anyone has an easier/better way of working in such a situation.
I have the same thing Ubuntu 12 04 and 13 04
A quick search of “MakerWare background services unavailable” gave me this from MakerBot’s website (http://www.makerbot.com/support/makerware/troubleshooting/)
When I open MakerWare, I see a “Background Service Unavailable” error message
This means that Conveyor, MakerWare’s background service, isn’t running, and might even be unable to start. Go to MakerWare’s Services menu and select “Show Background Service Log.” Send this log file to support@makerbot.com and we’ll help you sort out the issue.
Also, post that log here and I'm sure it'll give us enough info to suggest what to do next.
“Failed to open URI ‘file:///var/log/conveyor/conveyord.log’. Error when getting information for file ‘/var/log/conveyor/coveyord.log’: No such file or directory.”
You’ve got something borked with your install, and Conveyor isn’t running. You probably need to see if that log file exists yourself instead of via the program. I’d attempt to also reinstall or manually start the conveyor service
