I’d just remembered yesterday one incredible potential use for home-owned 3D printing: custom music boxes. The two most difficult parts of making a custom music box are (1) the comb, and (2) the cylinder.

Though 3D printing probably can’t help us manufacture the combs that fit our needs for a particular song, making a cylinder (that fits into the housing that we bought commercially or printed ourselves) would almost be child’s play.

Has anyone started any projects like this? I’ve always wanted to make a music box for my (now ex-) SO, and the process just went from HOLY HELLZ FORGET IT to fairly easily achievable.

Sweeeeet. The thingiverse id is even palindromic.
