I'd like to try some experiments with foam instead of sacrificing old boards.

I’d like to try some experiments with foam instead of sacrificing old boards. I’m thinking something about 3/4 inch thick so it will closely mimic the MDF that I plan to use for the final thing. Any suggestions on what to use and/or where to get it? Home Depot? Lowes?

Either will work. I know HD has purple foam that is more than an inch thick and cut into approximately 2ft squares. I bought a 4x8 sheet of the 1" blue stuff. Still have lots left.

@SirGeekALot do you have a “Re-use-it center” locally? It’s a place for recycled building materials or extras contractors have at the end of a project. I get test samples there for super cheap… A piece of foam will run you around 20$ or more at a big box store

What I was describing is only 1". it looked thicker at the store. $6 http://www.homedepot.com/p/Project-Panels-FOAMULAR-1-in-x-2-ft-x-2-ft-R-5-Insulation-Sheathing-PP1/203553730

@nick_wiegand ahhh i see I was talking about a 4’x8’ sheet of the same stuff…
