I’d like try out some Polycarbonate filament. I’d need 3mm filament for my Mendel90 with E3D hotend. Does anyone have recommendations for a supplier for US purchase? Also any tips for maximizing print quality with PC would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Ultimachine - The were one of the first to carry PC, and subsequently have also been the highest quality filament supplier state-side that I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.
It’s tough to avoid warping without a heated build volume rigged up on larger parts. Parts are crazy strong. Bed adhesion with abs juice worked, I’d be curious to try PVA (glue stick.) My e3d v5 on a Mendel 90 needed to be around 280c to extrude well. Other than that, just going a bit slower than abs printing rates seemed to work best.
We sell PC at E3D, but obviously we’re across the pond. However FedEx do get orders to the US in around 48 hours for us.
We’ve been printing PC on Uhu Stic with a bed temp of 120C with good success on objects with XY dimensions of less than 100mm. For larger objects you can make an ABS-Juice equivalent with dicholomethane instead of acetone and PC instead of the ABS - which works fantastically.
@Sanjay_Mortimer are you using that directly on glass (or aluminum)?
@Thomas_Sanladerer Right on glass, with the bed as hot as it will go, which varies but is around 130C.
Just finished packing your care package, should be with you very soon!
If PC adheres to PVA glue stick, will it also adhere to watered down PVA glue (Elmers)?
@Sanjay_Mortimer your price for PC at E3D is quite reasonable, even with shipping. I wanted to get some spare tips anyway, so look for an order soon, thanks.
