Ignore my late night commentary and the shakey video. Wanted to make something quick and using the alligator clip and holding the camera wasn’t easy. But I’m pretty close to mimicking the Lulzbot minis autolevel capabilities with my printer that I’m working on.

The leveling is using the stock nozzle on an e3D V6 and I’m connecting the signal lead to the heat sink of the hotend rather than the heater block on the lulzbot. Its easier to do, requires no machining and my wire doesn’t get hot so I can use any old wire. Also this makes it so I can swap for a volcano any time. I’m using an alligator clip to go around and touch the pads for ground as I haven’t cut my final aluminum bed plate and I’m still running my wood laser cut fit up one.

Also check out the bed I’m using. Its the bigbox bed from E3D. This thing is absolutely awesome. Between the zoned power, the pre terminated molex connection for power and thermistor, and the super pretty sheet of glass that comes with it its everything I’ve been looking for in a bed. The down side is I threw my wiring harness out in the box of packing peanuts (Don’t do that :frowning: ) so I haven’t been able to heat it yet. But hopefully I’ll get that sorted in the next day or so.

I just started carrying these, as I really enjoy the one on my BigBox.

Let me know if you need a wiring harness.

@Tim_Elmore that would be excellent. Ill send you an email. I wanna get this guy printing this week.

so you can connect this Heatbed to any printer? How does the variable power zones work?

Yes it works with anything that will fit a 315x215 PCB. Its 24v and has normal wires on the controller side. The power zones work by changing the width of the traces to concentrate power towards the outside where temp normally drops off. Check the blog post here. http://e3d-online.com/BigBox-Heated-Bed
