I’m about ready to quit this group based on the sexually explicit posts that keep coming up. Is anything being done to review posts before going live?

Yes. Report it and it will be flagged and removed. It is the unfortunate downside to an open group. I have been regularly reporting spam posts and they get removed quite fast.

We’re facing a spam wave. Believe me, we’re doing everything we can. Best you can do is report it. G+ doesn’t give us any good moderation tools, and we can’t even set it to moderate posts before…only tool we have is setting the group to private.

I have been reporting it as well. Is there any way to moderate or review posts before going live?

Nope, G+ doesn’t even give us the tools for that.

Ok

You could tell google all 330,000 of us are moving to vBulletin software.

Yes, there are some post, which do not fit into this group. But in my opinion just a few (perhaps you get more overseas / other timezone). When I see one, I’ll flag them and the problem is solved.

Good job @ThantiK and all the other #admins.

I’ve reported spam as fast as 30sec after it was posted. That actually felt good

@Step_Cia Maybe I am weird but I have push notifications on my phone so report the moment I see something odd (and massively out of context with 3D printing).

Yes yes showing my nephew this awesome group and the 1st post is a close up of a woman’s privates. My 1st thought was is that printe… oh wait no. Then block report and mute the poster. It’s all we can do it seems. But Google need to wake up to this.

Haha I saw those too and thought that I some how joined a group that I didnt mean to…but guess not.

Previous generations grew up knowing how to field dress wild game, others learned how to set points ignitions and gap spark plugs. Ours will learn about spam bots and Horny MILFS near them. :frowning:

Regardless of some inappropriate posts, this is a great community, I learn much from everyones post.
Quitting this community seems like cutting your nose off to spite your face. Honestly the spammers won’t miss you, so you are only hurting yourself.

Explain to my wife and kids why I have some ones hoo-ha on my screen is bad enough. I can always use a forums instead.

If you have to explain that shit to your wife, you’ve got bigger problems than just the 3D printing community being filled with spam. :stuck_out_tongue:

@Ryan_Fritts It’s just a fact of life in an open platform like this. Deal with it or move on, those are your only choices right now.

I should also add learning how how to insulate yourself from predators while online is paramount. You should really remove your address from your profile.

Understood @Ryan_Fritts but it’s members like you who bring value to this community so leaving only makes it worse.

I report as much as I can, even out of place stupid comments, I’m not sure it helps, but if we all do it we should be able to keep this place clean.

I had a friend that ran a forum for a very long time…and when folks were really displeased, he sagely stated: “This resource is worth every penny you’ve paid for it.”

Honestly, I don’t know what the margin is in overflowing random sites with porn.

@Mike_Miller I guess that’s why I have just a small amount of frustration with posts like this. This group is managed very well considering the number of members I’m sure it’s a big job. I have never seen an inappropriate post stay around very long. This is an open group and we will get that kind of thing.
And as far as margins go if just one in ten thousand of us click on that inappropriate image someone probably is making money. That’s the way clickbait works.
