I’m curious. What knowledge/skills do you need to have if you want to get into 3D printing as a hobby/career?

As a hobby I would say you don’t really need to know that much up front as the 3D printing community is full of people more than willing to help with any questions you have. As a career skills needed would encompass a variety of areas…you need to have some knowledge of engineering, mechanical, electronics, sales how to cost things out like time and materials, a CNC background would be very helpful too plus the skills that would be needed to run just about any business.

It’s pretty easy. Choose the type of printer u want and weather u want partial to full kit and get started. Learn by doing

Biggest skill you need is common sense followed by tinkering and the will to learn.

As a hobby, most important thing is patience. You need to research on the forums and stop tinkering when you’re lost and just head to the forums for advice. Tinkering skills are also good as you’ll have them once you’re done if you don’t already. For more basic kits, differing and electrical skills. And a knack for trouble shooting

Be able to follow directions, is a key skill when building one. Be able to think outside the box when a problem arises, and pretty much everything everyone else has mentioned.

But pretty much if you can follow directions you will be good.
