I’m getting swarf when cutting plywood wrapping around my end mill. Does this mean my feed rate is too low?
Plywood around the endmill is a first for me. Slow rates on woods usually results in burning. Are you using a 1 or 2 flute mill? Low spindle RPMs and few flutes is the only thing I can think of.
I’m betting that it isn’t really anything to worry to much about as long as the finished cut is smooth. The swarf could be from the wood grain and glue in the plywood holding the pieces together. I’ve had that happen as well but never really worried about it too much. The end result is what really matters.
its a 2 flute endmill, yeh it cuts well, leaves quite a big bur on the surface but it is an upcut so i suppose that is to be expected right?
i do need to get some 1 flute small endmills for wood!!
