I’m having a problem with some ic3d filament. Several layers into every print the hobbed bolt grinds into the filament and extrusion stops any suggestions? I am using an e3d with a wades extruder.
You are using the fan that came with the E3D, right?
Of course
I have been using the e3d for quite a while and this problem seems exclusive to this filament
Huh I was having the same issue and switching to IC3D fixed it lol. Oh 3d printing you fickle bitch
I did out of no where have to start running considerably hotter to extrude consistently with my e3d. 230 was fine with abs for a long time now I need 250-60 to get good prints. But my prints got better and reliability went way up so I’m not arguing.
Are extrusion rates lower for the first few layers? Maybe the filament isn’t flowing as smoothly so at higher extrusion rates it’s just pushing too hard?
The entire print runs slower for the first layer and it appears not to be exclusive to the first layer. It just happens consistently and in the first several layers.
Did you measure the filament with calipers? Over-extrusion can build up over several layers and cause a build up of pressure which eventually leads to the hobbed bolt grinding through the filament. Just an idea, but I have seen this several times with some types of filament.
@Richard_Gain yes I have
