I’m having a weird problem. I’m running Chilipeppr in Google Chrome, and it was rendering fine, but now, on the same Windows 7 machine, the rendered area is just black, and does not even render the Chilipeppr default gcode. I’ve even rebooted the PC to see if that would help, but it does not. I know it is not Chilipeppr.com being down or anything like that because my other PC (Win10) still renders it just fine. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot and/or fix this?
Try Firefox or opera?
WebGL is On?
It’s WebGL.
This helped me diagnosing such problems regarding webgl… http://superuser.com/questions/836832/how-can-i-enable-webgl-in-my-browser
I’m totally game if anybody wants to add that fallback code and do a pull request in Github.
I’m supposed to be seeing a 404 screen right? So where’s the code?
That’s freaking weird. I went to chrome://flags, and changed “WebGL Draft Extensions” to enabled and that seems to have fixed it. But I never touched any chrome settings between it working and not working.
Wow, that got integrated quick. Nice work +Peter van der Walt
I did pull request but finding that when i disable webgl i get full black screen and no fallback text, so it’s not really working.
I got rid of the fallback to CanvasRenderer. Instead I just throw up a 10 second Flash Message telling you WebGL is broken. Adding a fallback renderer will create a whole new slew of complaints by users and as it stands it just doesn’t even work because no lines get rendered correctly. So CanvasRenderer is unusable and not worth any effort.
A GitHub pull request? Dang I’ve missed a lot. I still remember ChiliPeppr shunning Git in favor of JSFiddle.
@Todd_Fleming the goal was to make sure people could edit in the cloud to make forking/modifying easy. Cloud9 was the answer to getting this to work and Cloud9 was not around when ChiliPeppr got invented. As it stands it is now about a 9 step process to forking and publishing with Github and Cloud9. When using JSFiddle it was a 2 step process. So we’ve moved backwards in a huge way, but at least we’ve gained Cloud9’s editor which is amazing and we’ve gained pull requests. One of these days we’ll get back to 2 step forking with all the benefits as well.
Things have definitely changed…Cloud9 is a full IDE too, can actually search and keep files and such.
