I’m interested to know if anyone on here has, or knows of anyone who has, pre-ordered the botObjects machine. If so have you paid the full amount up front?
I have not ordered, but I will warn against ordering in the first batch, especially for such a large price. The product looks really cool, but there appear to be only one working unit that was shown off in a press event. Getting a prototype to work is much different than getting production units to work.
I’m a backer of the eventorbot Kickstarter. I’m actually lucky in that I received my kit, albeit incredibly late, and only partially functional as received. Mine was a kit so it’s a bit different, but do not rely on their proposed ship date, as it is guaranteed to be slipped.
Honestly, looks promising, but for that cost, I’d wait for the 2nd batch so they can work out design flaws and production process.
Preordering is like a donation. You might get a working printer out of it, but that is not guaranteed. So only donate to companies that you like. There is little to like about BotObjects with their sleazy marketing and withholding of all technical information.
